I have salvaged copper wire, tube and pipe from old boilers and transformed them into simple jewellery. Copper has been used in jewellery, body adornment and for medicinal purposes for thousands of years and I like the idea of the pieces looking "like they have just been dug out of the earth" as some people stated. I want to keep the designs very simple but still unusual and unique. I mix copper and silver in some pieces and the contrast of the 2 metals is sometimes quite striking. Some pieces are oxidised to give them an older look, others are highly polished. Copper, they say, is the new gold - it's a warm and friendly metal, lovely to work with and while I'm experimenting with this ancient base metal I learn all the time about what I can and can not do with and to it!!
